Sounds like the same build I use. It's a real lazy build so no point paying too much attention, usually tabbed out while SoS farming nick items.

I just want to thank you all for giving a new meaning for my Mondays
I was wondering, what was the longest it took to find Nick the Traveler? I'm really impressed at how quickly people are able to figure where he is. Sorry if it sounds silly, but did he ever go missing for more than a day?

My Rit soloed most of Vehjin Mines on her first run (didn't bother going to the top NE area), using this build, which is pretty much my stock spirit spamming build for farming/general PvE. For farming areas where there is a lot of health degeneration-causing foes, I may use something similar to this build.
As for summon Spirits, I personally found it more beneficial to have than not having. I have often used this spell (to a degree) to direct spirits to attack certain foes in a group, have use it to redirect aggro, and used it keeping spirits up a little longer.

Don't think anyone is actually keeping track, and I am assuming Nick has always been found within a day. Off hand, I say one of the longest times he "went missing" before someone posted his location (either here or one of the wikis) must have been either Twin Serpent Lakes, Garden of Seborhin or Rhea's Crater. But I'm sure someone here will post otherwise.
As for quickly locating Nick so fast, it not that hard -- there is only 26 locations left in the "current rotation".

Can still pull off the old R/D build for these. If you got the skills you can charge in to the Mesmer, ball them around you and quickly strike them down with the deadly Apply Poison & Reap Impurities combo. Build works well if you can pull it off but it's not for everyone.
Been able to take out groups with 2 Mesmers but it is sketchy unless you manage to pull of a perfect ball up.

I normally farm Nicholas items with my elementalist. But this time I took my rit. Soloing, it about 25 minutes to get 10 plus 5 extras.

Unbelievable. Not a single talon after a solid hour of farming. Three full inventories, salvaged down to 2 rubies, 2 superior, 1 major and 7 minor runes, some insignias, almost a stack of iron and some other mats, 3 vabbian keys and 3k worth of merchant junk. But not a single talon.

There you go - the evil end of random chance in operation.
Only took me ~3 runs to get what I needed, plus one balck dye and a crappy green spear from that Penishead fella.

Exactly how I read it. And I too had an extraordinarily low drop rate this week, ended up finishing it on Wednesday after farming a lot on both Monday and Tuesday and having little luck.

The Blue Tongue Hekets can be quite bothersome since they have Word of Healing.
If you go to Gandara Moon Fortress there are 2 groups of 3 Heket that are always 2 warriors and one ranger. The ranger uses an axe like the warriors. None have healing abilities.
Just some helpful advice.

Blue tongue are easy, painful bond=death, aggro the group then go over to the healer summon spirits, wait for the warriors to get close and use PB, stand in that area and summon spirits again to give them some HP, I have fought 2 groups by accident that had blue tongue and took them out, it was hard but one group with a healer=easy.
